Sickness all around.
We started our thanksgiving holiday was everyone getting sick. We celebrated with my parents and sister, and it seemed like we all brought a different sickness to the event. I personally have felt nauseous, had a full body rash, nasal drip and a cough. A full mix of everything on the spectrum it seems. The rest of the house has bad sore throats, bad congestion, ugly cough, and low grade fevers. Here’s to0 hoping I don’t also get those symptoms. The last time I ran I was the Turkey Trot on Thursday. I have been itching to get back at it, but wanted to make sure I kept as healthy…

Race Recap Turkey Trot!
Race recap! I should have ran with my phone or had someone take pictures! I was actually a little nervous for this race. I went back and forth a lot between running with family or running it to the best of my ability. At the end I decided I would run by feel and not look at my watch. We had about three different sicknesses going through our house leading up to the raze. I had some post nasal drip and couch, and was up all night with a toddler who was throwing up and had a slight fever. Still not sure if it was something he ate or the…

Treadmill Long Run
I delayed my long run for longer than I should have and then the day got away from me. I was planning to get up early to run before the rest of the house woke up. Morning workouts have been hit or miss these days. Daylight saving change is still killing our sleep schedule over here in toddler land. Both my kids having adjusted to a later wake up time. I set my alarm and if they are making any noise when I wake up I know it’s not worth it to even attempt a run. I finally mustered up the energy to get out on the treadmill around 9ish.…

A few days of training!
Recap for a few days of training!. I am starting to love speed work. Pushing myself outside of my comfort zone and getting my heart rate up has been a fun change of pace in this training cycle. Yesterday I did a tempo workout. Five minute warm-up, 3x5mins tempo pace with 1min walking rest in between. The target pace was 7:41. I hit the first two and crashed and burned the last one. I would still say overall it was successful. Instead of easy miles or cross training on Wednesday between speed workouts I opted for a day off. I probably should have done at least a little cross training…

6×400 Speed Work!
Another successful speed workout! I did it on the treadmill to make sure my paces stayed consistent. That method is working for me right now. I am hoping that it translates to being able to hold pace on the roads! I did a one mile warm-up at 10:54 pace. I then did 6×400 with 400 recovery. I did the first five 400s at 7:41 pace and the last one at 7:30 pace. The recovery was a .1 walk .2 at 10min pace and .1 at 9min pace. I wanted the recovery to be a little faster than that, but that’s where I was at today. It still turned out to…

Successful Long Run!
Yesterday I did a very slow 30mins on the treadmill. This morning was a long run success. I went back and forth all last night and even on my way to the trail, just how far I wanted to run. I was thinking between 5-7. I decided on 6 with at least 2 miles on the harder side. The run ended up being a huge success. I felt great. I am still majority struggling with keeping a consistent pace. I try so hard, yet I am just so bad at it. I kept the first mile very easy, picked up the pace a tiny bit but still very easy the…

Workout Thursday!
Finally a great workout. I’m feeling like progress is happening. I did a 4x800m with 2min walking rest in between. I did the workout on the treadmill. Part to keep the pace correct, and part because it was still windy because of hurricane/tropical storm Nicole. I took some Skratch chews before the workout along with some Nuun. I think it made all the difference. I was feeling sluggish throughout the day, but I felt amazing during the workout. I am pleased with the progress I’ve made in a relatively short amount of time. Excited to keep going! All Project Fast 5k Posts: HERE More Training Log Posts: HERE Pinterest: HERE

Easy 3.5; Daylight Savings Time Change is Rough!
Easy 3.5 miles this morning. Was planning for 3-4 miles so I was right in the middle! Daylight savings is causing some issues with our toddlers. My oldest woke up when I was about 2 miles in. I had to pause quick and put him back to bed. We are trying the don’t leave until the light turns green trick. Today was day one. It resulted in him waking up his brother and everyone awake at 5am. But! They pointed to the light that I turned green, when I finally gave up and opened the door. I am taking that as progress. After the early wake up from the kids,…

Back at it!
The stomach bug got me for a few days last week, but I am back at it! I was out of the game for most of Thursday, Friday I didn’t leave bed, and Saturday I took it easy. After Friday of laying low all day in bed, I had a ton of energy on Saturday it was hard to take it easy. I am taking advantage of the falling back an hour and getting back into morning runs. Sunday morning I did an easy three miles. I could have probably gone a little longer, but the kids woke up and I didn’t want to push my body too hard. This…
