Finally Some Speed Work!

Speed work happened this morning! I did hit snooze a few times and it was a battle to get myself out of bed. BUT we made it out the door!

The workout was short and sweet, but I still had to keep talking myself into keep going.

I am slowly adding in more speed work and I want to keep the progression slow and steady. My goal is to do this build up and training as smart as possible. I am over the cycle of yo-yo training!

I did a one mile warm-up. 3×400 with a 400 walk/jog recovery and then a half mile cool-down (which ended up being a little longer).

My plan was to just do the 400s on the road as I was running, but about where my warm-up ended was a parking lot that was lit by street lights. I couldn’t pass up the light and circle, so I did my 400 repeats around the parking lot! I will definitely be doing that again. Maybe even move over to the open field in the future. Time off the pavement would benefit my legs!

I was ready to quit after the first interval and REALLY ready to quit after the second. I am proud of myself for pushing through. I even ran each interval faster than the one before. I’ll take it!

I LOVE a good speed session and I feel really good about where I am at right now! Just going to keep chipping away!

After I got home it was time to lift. I did an Arm accessory day, pelvic floor abs, and my chiropractor exercises. My 4-year old woke up about 10mins into my lift and he must have slept great because he joined in with lots of energy.

We had a BLAST! I am so glad I bought him the kid weights months ago. It has been fun to watch him get into fitness with me! They are for sure alway watching!

The rest of the day consisted of house things. We have a working washer and dryer for the first time in two months. Tons of laundry today.

We also went out and picked out counter tops. Holy overwhelming! But we are one step closer to finishing up house renovations!
