Active Recovery Off Day
Active recovery days work best for me. If I take a day completely off, I tend to not get back into working out. I haven’t figured out why exactly that is, but for now its best to keep moving. Last night was great. Kids went to bed early, I relaxed took a bath and went to bed early. There is nothing like a solid night sleep to make you feel better! We had a slow morning and then went on a four mile walk. It was a pretty great morning! We walked on the same path I ran on yesterday. It has become one of my favorites lately, but I…

Running in Humidity is Humbling!
Holy hot! I switched my long run until this morning because it was the last day this week I could get out on the roads. The rest of my runs will be on the treadmill. I waited until a little after 8:30 to get out there. I wanted to wait until the sun came up so I could run on the nearby trail. I paid the price with the heat of the sun. I ended up doing mostly a run/walk, and the last half mile I get like I was going to burn up. BUT! The run is done and it feels good to be building some mileage! 4 miles…

No Sleep Training. Cross Training and Upper Body!
Prayers didn’t work. Wake up call came about 2:30am. Once one child went to bed around 5ish it was too late to sneak in a workout before child number two wakes up for the day. Frustrated and disappointed were the feelings. We made the most of the day. Added in a short morning walk. Then I got in a spin bike ride and a push/pull upper body strength workout. Kept things light and easy again today. I am still dealing with some sinus issues. Keeping things consistent while still letting my body recover from no sleep and being sick. Win, Win! I also thing it is time to invest in…

3 Mile Run! Check! Hot, Humid and Done
Welp. It started at about 7:30pm last night. I drank some much loved Beam to go to bed early. My wonderful toddler had other plans. Cutting a tooth is hard. He was up on and off until about 3am. Needless to say the 4:15am alarm wasn’t going to happen. But. The run did happen. At 5pm. With crazy humidity, right before a storm was about to hit. I was ready to give up less than a half a mile in. But I got it done! A lot of walk/running intervals, but another check off the training log. Praying for a full night sleep and an early morning workout tomorrow. Fingers…

Base Training Full Commitment Starts Today!
I have gone back and forth with commitment over the past several months. Years really. Today is the day. All the ups and downs have led me to this moment. A full commitment of 16 weeks of base training. Working up to half marathon distance. I am both excited and nervous. Mostly ready for commitment to myself. I keep letting all the little things derail me. The previous challenges I attempted HERE and HERE were a good build up for this training plan. I am ready to get back into race shape, but I want to start smart. Hopefully build up to decent mileage injury free! I am going to…

Lauren’s Training Log – July 25th – July 31s, 2022
Monday, July 25th, 2022: This current sleep regression has been rough! One of the kids was up from 11-12 and then again from 2-6. Morning workout didn’t happen. Was able to sneak in a mile run in the afternoon to get something in. Tuesday, July 26th, 2022: Another night of no sleep. This time both kids were up for the majority of the night. Not morning workout again. I miss them! Was able to sneak in a 3 mile treadmill run during nap time. I drank a decent amount of water, but by bedtime I had a pretty bad dehydration headache, which could also be because I was over tired. …

Lauren’s Training Log – July 18th – July 24th, 2022
Monday, July 18th, 2022: 4:15am. Check. Loved getting up and getting it done this morning! Did 2.5 Miles, a Pull Lifting workout and some pelvic floor abs. I slowed down my miles to try and make my easy miles easy, to allow for better building. Felt great. Solid Monday! Tuesday, July 19th, 2022: 4:30am. Check. Not much sleep last night but still willed myself out of bed. So glad I did. It’s been refreshing to start my morning with me time and being productive on my fitness. For the first time in a long time. Did an easy 1.5 Miles and the a leg lift. I might add in some…

Lauren’s Training Log – July 11th – July 17th, 2022
Monday, July 11th: 2 mile morning run! Loveeee a good morning run. I was going to try and lift too, but the kiddos had other plans. Pushed the lift to Tuesday instead. Tuesday, July 12th: Made up the leg lift I missed on Monday morning. It felt strong! I modified it a little bit to meet me where I am now, so I’m able to continue with the training plan without being way to sore. I followed up the lift with a one mile run. It felt hard, but not impossible. It was a hot and sweaty one! I really enjoyed this after bedtime workout! I also did some pelvic…
