Lauren’s Journal: The Long Run Feeling
I feel. Accomplished. Unstoppable. Tired. Exhausted. Energized. All at the same time. There really is nothing like it. It has been YEARS since I have stepped out with the intension of doing a ‘long’ run. Which I define as anything longer than my current training runs. I am VERY slowly building up my mileage after years of yo-yo training. I am currently doing three miles at a heart rate under 150 for my mid-week runs. Today I stepped out and did my five-mile-long run. I kept the pace over 10min miles until the last mile and let myself go off feel. I finished around 6:53 pace (which is why I…

Lauren’s Journal: Checking my Ego
Things are starting to click this week. I feel great! I have had a strong week of training this week. Nothing crazy, but strong for me. The fact that I still feel motivated and full of energy on Friday Afternoon is HUGE for me! Usually by Friday I am ready to crawl into bed at 9am and sleep for days. I woke up at 5am this morning (thank you child for never sleeping in *sarcasm), and I feel full on energy. A few things that I changed this week with my training. Keeping everything easy! All my walks with the kids are a little bit slower, all my runs are…

Blood Sugar Regulation – The First Few Days.
The actual operation has begun (First Post Here Explaining More Here). I have revamped my diet down to just the basics. Mostly veggies and lean proteins. Lots of chicken, eggs, broccoli, and zucchini. Once I get my blood sugar levels back to a “normal” range, I will start to experiment adding back in my favorite foods and see how my body and blood sugar reacts. I am also looking into a Continuous Glucose Monitor to help wit real-time data. (Crossing the I get lucky and the company Levels accepts me into their early access beta group). Until then I will be doing the traditional glucose monitor. Last week I slowly…

Operation Regulate Blood Sugar.
I haven’t been feeling like myself for a while now. I have slowly made diet changes and exercises changes but nothing seemed to be working. I thought maybe it was a mix of anxiety, depression, and stress. Since my diet tweaks and exercise routine didn’t seem to be helping I knew something else was probably up. I woke up yesterday morning and tested my blood glucose. My fasting levels were super high. Then I ate breakfast had a cup of coffee and tested my levels again after one and a half hours. It was also high. My reaction. Ugh! I woke up this morning and tested. High again. After researching…

Back at it!
Postpartum has been a wild ride. I’ve definitely had way more of a emotionally rollercoaster this time around than I did the first time. Add that with two kids under two and some traveling. Both nutrition and fitness have been hit or miss. Fitness has been better than nutrition but still spotty. I’m ready to commit to finally putting myself first and getting back into shape for both my mental and physical health. I had gestational diabetes with both of my pregnancies and it’s important to me to fix my diet and exercise routine to help fight the odds of developing type 2 diabetes. My boys are also getting so…

Lauren’s Journal: My Why.
To show up for myself. To feel better. To prove to myself that I can still be in great shape as a Mom of 2 kids under the age of two. I have always been an athlete. A runner. I have always identified as that. I then got into a car accident May of 2017. I injured my upper back. It was muscular and no doctor could really tell me what was wrong. I became frustrated, in pain, and gave up on the idea of being a competitive athlete again. About a year later, with very minimal exercise tolerated and hours about hours spent at all kinds of doctors. I…

Lauren’s Journal- Day 5&6
I took yesterday as a rest day! I think I am liking the Friday rest day! It’s nice to sleep in and then relax with the family at night! I did get up early and finish my UESCA Running Coach Certification. I passed! I am excited that my sister and I can really start to move forward with coaching and ebooks now. I am also excited to take what I learned and write my own training plan! Today I did some lower body, in the form of two EMOMs. It was a tough workout but the burn felt so good. I then followed it up with a 15min Peloton low…

Lauren’s Journal – Day 4
Morning Workout. Check! I should have checked the app before I set my alarm, so that was a little bit of a fail. The workout today was active recovery, but it was still nice to get movement in before everyone woke up for the day. I decided to do a Peloton Spin Class. A Country Ride. It was everything I needed this morning. I then followed it up with some simple beginner yoga to get some stretching in. We added to your 1000 hours outside today! According to the news this morning today was the first day of decent sun since December 18th. That pretty much explains my seasonal depression!…

Lauren’s Journal – Day 3
Anxiety is a funny thing. For me it comes and goes all day every day. Yesterday was a great day, but them as I went to bed. Boom! Anxiety hit and I laid in bed just replaying everything negative in my life over and over again until it was 3am and I still hadn’t fallen asleep. So I decided to turn off the alarm and wake up with the kiddos and do my work out after they went to bed. It worked out amazing because they both slept until 7:15! I work up determined to make today a great day. Fake it till you make it right?! I have decided…
