Toddler Life and I Almost Skipped My Run.
Toddler Life, it’s wild. They are trying to kill me this week. We started our day around 12:45am. I am still not even sure what caused the wake up. Which pretty much sums up mom life right! We had a little slumber party on the couch until it was decided that 4:45 would be the time to start playing cars. I did not make that decision! It goes without saying, that my morning run was again cancelled. Do you think they know that I just set giant goals for myself and this week was week one for big training? 🤦♀️. Mom life comes first so we played and cuddled the morning…

Walk, Run and Lift!
Wow it’s been a rough few days in our house. I didn’t end up falling asleep until around 2am, so I opted for no morning run. I’m disappointed, but I knew it was the smart decision. We went to pre-school class, played after for a while and then came home for nap time! After some naps we made it out for a short walk to get some sunshine! Always the best afternoon pick me up! Nap time for the boys. Coffee for mom! Win! Win! I then snuck out for a 3 mile run, the weather has been perfect lately. It is always a treat to get out in the…

Rough Night Sleep and Day Off
After a very rough night I decided to turn the alarm off and try and get a few minutes of sleep. Everyone seemed a little off today. We took a drive around 10am to try and get some naps. It was a failed attempt. After returning home we tried a walk. That was also a failed attempt, but the fresh air and sunshine did some good for me! Around 3:00 we decided a beach visit was necessary. It is so nice being so close the the beach. There is just something about the sand in your toes and the sound of the waves that just makes everything better! We then…

Easy Two Miles and An Afternoon Walk
Today was a pretty low key day. On the training plan today was an easy two miles With the transition of cutting off the pacifier for my youngest I didn’t even attempt a morning run. That and the weather was supposed to be perfect, so I knew I wanted to sneak out before dinner and get in a quick few miles in the fresh air and sunshine! We started the day with a pre-school class for my older one, while my younger one and I played! Then we headed out for a short walk, to get some fresh air and sunshine! I was able to sneak in a quick two…

Day in the Life: Day 1 of Base Training 2.0
Day one of the new training plan! 17 Weeks, using the 10% rule, increasing mileage from 15 to 47 miles per week! At least twice a week strength training and some speed work sprinkled in to avoid boredom and burn out! 4:28am: Woke up in a little of a panic. My alarm was supposed to go off around 4:02, but it either didn’t go off, or I turned it off without realizing it (which never really happens for me). Either way I got up and rushed a little to get ready! Thankfully I just have to make it out to the garage to the treadmill. 4:38am: I was on the…

Overall I would say it was an average week. Not great, but not terrible. I started out strong but the second half of the week kind of fell off. I am going to commit to morning workouts next week and see if that creates a positive change. Please list at least 3 things you were grateful for/ or positives from the week. 1. Lauren’s Journal: Initial Consultation!
Shannon and I are both starting new journeys today. I have had multiple self-challenges in the past, and after the last failed attempted during a super stressful time, I am committing to a full lifestyle change instead of small challenges. We will both be doing weekly check-ins, sharing workouts, and popping in for updates on how we are feeling during our individual training plans. Shannon has a half-marathon on deck. I am going to try and get some good base mileage and lifting in before I pick a race to start seriously training for. I am craving some good old track speed work. Need to get the base mileage and…

Lauren’s Journal – Journey to Health & Happiness… Failed
Lauren’s Journal – Journey to Health & Happiness My challenge lasted two weeks and two days, and then I failed. This is delayed because I took the week to figure out next steps and really figure out what I can do to fix the repeated failing. Being disappointed in myself is an understatement. A theme the last few years has been trying to do things for myself and continuing to let myself down by giving up when life gets tough or stressful. Using tiny things as excuses instead of making time and effort to be there for myself. I was feeling okay during the two weeks, I was stressed and…

Lauren’s Journal – Journey to Health & Happiness W2D2
Lauren’s Journal – Journey to Health & Happiness W2D2 Today was the first day that I really struggled to get out for a run. I should have gone this morning. Mistakes were made. I ended up making some trips from the old house to the new house and prepared for the movers to come tomorrow. Ready for the move to be over! But I ran a mile then walked a little over a mile and a half tonight with the kids. The goal was to run and then walk until they fell asleep. The sleeping mission failed, but I got the run in! It actually felt really good! Stroller running…
