Shannon’s Journal – Initial Consultation

Shannon is ready to go! Lauren is going to coach her through her weight loss journey, and we are going to document it for the blog. These posts will go back and forth between hearing from Lauren and hearing from Shannon!

Shannon started with a pre-week of training and loosely cleaning up her nutrition, the slow approach start to ease into a lifestyle change seems to help Shannon the most. Below you will find her initial consultation:

Initial Consultation: Shannon

  • What are your goals 
    • Lifestyle change. I obviously want to lose weight, but I want to change my mindset along the way. 
  • Have you run before? If so, how much. 
    • Yes, I have run up to a half marathon (if you could call it running lol), but have not run in a while. 
  • Do you want to train for a race, increase mileage, or run for cardio and mental benefits (keep consistent with no increases or workouts) 
    • Ideally, I would like to run for cardio/mental health and work my way back up to a half marathon in February 2023
  • How many days a week do you want to run. 
    • 3-4 
  • Do you want to do a long run (distance is very relative to specific training). If so, what day of the week. 
    • Yes I would like to work up to a long run, I would prefer a weekend day. 
  • Have you lifted before, if so, how much and what? 
    • Yes, still very new to it 
  • Do you lift in a gym or at home 
    • At home for now 
  • What equipment would you have available? 
    • Dumbbells, treadmill, spin bike 
  • How many days would you prefer to lift. 
    • Not sure 
  • Do you prefer, powerlifting, body building, circuits, or other/don’t know? 
    • I like a mix of all. If I had to choose it would be circuits (I get bored easily lol) 
  • Would you rather lift and run on the same day, lift on separate days, or no preference? (*no right answer and this can be adjusted later!) 
    • No preference 
  • What are your nutrition/eating habits like? 
    • Eat out a lot and very high in calories 
  • What does your sleep schedule look like? 
    • 6-7 hours every night, but I do not sleep the best at night. 
  • Do you have anything else you want us to know before we draft a program? 
    • Not at this time

We are excited for Shannon to start her new lifestyle changes. Her training plan will start July 11th! Working to include lifestyle changes and leading up to a successful Half Marathon in February!
