Life Lately Sick Again!

To say the last few weeks have been chaos would be an understatement. Things have been stressful with the house and dealing with my right side hurting.

I have been frustrated about my injury (I’m scared to call it that because it’s more like a discomfort). Knowing that I let all the outside noise get in the way of my nutrition and recovery has me a little frustrated with myself. I am giving myself a little grace because I know this time will pass and this high stress time is temporary. With that said, I don’t want to lose all the fitness I have worked so hard to gain!

Just when my right side was feeling better. I got sick. I thought it was just a bad case of allergies, but after a few days it is something more. Sore throat, fatigue, nasal dip and an annoying cough! I’m ready to feel better!!

I woke up a few mornings ago and it seemed like everything was starting to drain out, but it ended up getting bad again. I went to the walk-in on Friday to try a Z-Pak and coughing med. Fingers crossed that knocks this out. This sickness has rocked me pretty hard. The kids are starting to get sick now. Ugh! We have been sick so much recently. We are ready for a break.

To rewind a little bit. I ended up seeing a chiropractor on Monday to try and figure out what is wrong with my right side. I was nervous to go, but knew that I needed to do something. Last time I had issues like this a biomechanics type chiropractor is what helped. I think I found a great one this time.

He took x-rays and determined that my last two lumbar discs are almost disc to disc and that is causing a lot of the tightness and issues. I also have a bone spur in my neck, which is probably from the car accident I was in back in 2017.

The chiropractor seemed a little hopeful that we might be able to do rehab, exercises and treatment to help. I went back on Wednesday and he cracked my back and took more x-rays to see if the realignment will great any gap in the discs. Finger crossed! I go back Monday to get the results and figure out a rehab plan! One major positive, he it will be okay to keep running! Now to just get healthy!

I am giving myself time to get to 100% and then I am back to a plan! I thrive off structured training. If I leave it up to how I am feeling I tend to just skip workouts. We have managed to get a few slow walks in for fresh air, and I have done a few very easy runs and bike rides to help sweat this out. I’m over it.
