Lauren’s Journal – Day 1

Can you tell what’s wrong from the picture below?!

Yup, my treadmill is broken. As I’m waiting to see if we can fix it. I decided to start the 1st Phorm Challenge workouts today! And running will start, as soon as, my treadmill is up and running (crossing my fingers and toes that it happens this week!). I’m treadmill running because you know 2 kids under 2 doesn’t allow for much free time during day light hours… and it’s freezing and always snowing here and I’m not here for running in the snow.

Today was my day one of the challenge. I filled out my profile, took my before pictures and completed my first workout. This is all done in their app. First workout was: Legs and Shoulders. It felt good not having to create my own workouts and having them created and ready to go for me. There is something so nice about already having a plan! (That is why a lot of coaches have coaches themselves!).

After this 8 weeks, I will probably go back to planning my own workouts again. Creating a full training plan that will be ready to go each day. Until then, I’m going to enjoy someone else doing it for me! I’m also going to follow my own 8 week beginner runner guide starting, as soon as, my treadmill is fixed.

Today’s feelings: it was actually so nice to wake up and feel like it was a complete fresh start. I went to bed in a horrible mood (over the snow!), add on transitioning an infant to their crib… let’s just say I didn’t have high hopes for today. But I woke up ready to get back to a healthier lifestyle again. I’m an athlete at heart so knowing I’m working towards running fast and getting stronger excites me.

What surprised me today was that I didn’t really crave any bad food. I know that day will come either later this week or next week. It always does for me!… and I’ll give in and eat in moderation because what’s life without a bowl of ice cream at night every now and then! With that said I will cut back from eating a cookie sandwich every night! Oops. Bad habits. Another thing that surprised me was the sugar detox headache I got around 4pm and how fast it came on… one tiny piece of chocolate later and it was gone. Crazy.

I’m going to bed excited about showing up for myself tomorrow!
