Running for Beginners: What Every Beginner Runner Needs.
What I have learned since making a running comeback surprised me! Beginner Runners should start here.
There is so much information out there. It makes running confusing, complicated and almost hard to start if don’t have some baseline knowledge. And if you follow most of the information out there, the risk of injury is so high.
My personal hot topic thought is there is way too much noise in the running world. It makes it so intimidating to start let alone get involved in the community. It almost feels like you need to be an expert, or educated in all aspects of running, just to get out there and start.
I have been running on and off for most of my life at pretty much all levels, and joining a local running community is still intimidating to me. I can only imagine what that feels like as a true beginner with no background or foundation.
Beginner runners should have access to affordable coaching and resources that allow for question asking, accountability, and adaptability of training plan based on life style and things that arise in real time.
Before my “comeback” I decided I wanted to treat myself as a beginner. I was virtually starting over after having two kids in two years and a car accident the year before that took me out of running consistently.
What I learned was scary, frustrating, and almost infuriating. Running is simple in nature. It shouldn’t be made over complicated. BUT you can also easily get hurt by doing too much too soon, or following all the mis-information out there.
Why isn’t there just basic information for beginners. All in one spot. A beginner shouldn’t have to figure out what is good for them or bad for them. There should be a one stop shop for all things beginner, with access to a qualified coach to ask questions!
Running is life changing. Both for your physical and mental health! Everyone experiencing the life changing benefits of running is something I am very passionate about!
