Memorial 5k Race!
Memorial 5k Race! Remembering 9/11. The day started off great. I did a local 5k that benefited the fire department in town and was also a 9/11 memorial run. They did an amazing job with all the small details. Played audio and read statements. It was a great event!
The race itself was a lot of fun. We ran as a group, which is always a good time. We averaged around 11min miles, which surprisingly felt pretty easy. My heart rate stayed pretty low and it was a very conversational pace. It was an encouraging race, and made me trust my training!
I decided to call it a day at the 3.1 miles. I contemplated running additional in the afternoon to total the distance of my long run, but I decided against that. My body was telling me it needed a little break, and I have been pushing it a lot lately. It was nice to have a weekend of both running and relaxing. Sometimes a shorter run is just want the body needs.
Excited for another week of training ahead!
