Back at it!

The stomach bug got me for a few days last week, but I am back at it! I was out of the game for most of Thursday, Friday I didn’t leave bed, and Saturday I took it easy. After Friday of laying low all day in bed, I had a ton of energy on Saturday it was hard to take it easy.

I am taking advantage of the falling back an hour and getting back into morning runs. Sunday morning I did an easy three miles. I could have probably gone a little longer, but the kids woke up and I didn’t want to push my body too hard.

Distance and Pace not accurate (see treadmill pic below). Hoping the next Apple Watch updates let’s you update distance!

This morning I woke up and did a tempo run. I opted for a 5min warm-up 15min at tempo pace and a 10min cool-down. My tempo pace today was 8:41. The treadmill is perfect for tempo runs. Adjust the desired pace and hold on. This is where the treadmill is my benefit. Outside I would have gone out way too fast and either held on or crash and burned.

Morning is my favorite time to run and I am glad I am getting back into it. I do wish I had the ability to get out on the roads some mornings, but that is not the stage of life I am in right now. The treadmill is my best friend. Luckily I don’t mind the treadmill too much.

When the weather gets nicer I will sneak out in the evenings for some easy miles though. Nothing is better than winter running in Florida. The weather is perfect!

Morning runs also means that I have time to recover and still get in a lift later in the day. Today I opted to do a walk with the kids instead of a lift though. We walked three miles to my parents house, hung out for a bit, and walked home. After 9 miles or walking and a 3 mile run, I decided a lift wouldn’t be smart.
