Workout in the Humidity
I am solo parenting it for a couple of days, so I only had a few options for my speed workout. I could run in the morning on the treadmill before the kids get up. Or wait until after my oldest preschool class so my mom could watch them while I ran outside. I picked the second option. It was nice to run outside and not on the treadmill. But it was very hot and humid around 11 when I started. We were blessed with a few days of low humidity and then it came back strong this weekend.
My splits were actually pretty good considering the weather. I slowed down a little, which was actually the plan even without the weather. I need to get better at pacing. I did a little better today. I mostly walked the 400m recovery instead of jogged. As I said last week I should probably slow down my 400 repeat time so I am able to do a jogging recovery. At this point in my training I am just enjoying running as fast as I can. After my next time trial I will factor in more specific workouts if I haven’t gotten any faster in my 5k time. Right now having fun wins.
I was planning to lift at night after the kids went to bed, but I decided to rest and relax and watch some tv instead. No regrets.
I think I will add my heavy lift to Thursday after my tempo run and I will add in a smaller strength for runners workout on Sunday after my recovery run. I might also do some core work or Bodyweight circuit with my run tomorrow if I have time.
